Scalable Design System & Contentful Migration
Wynn Las Vegas, one of the most iconic luxury resorts in the world, was undergoing a technological overhaul of its digital ecosystem. The goal: migrate content to Contentful, improve performance, and build a scalable system that could support multiple properties under the Wynn brand.
As Product Designer, I was responsible for creating a robust design system that would facilitate the migration, ensure consistency, and support future projects.
The Challenge
Huge content migration: Thousands of pages (hotel, casino, dining, entertainment) needed to move to Contentful.
Multiple stakeholders: Marketing, operations, and tech teams all required alignment.
Brand expectations: Wynn’s luxury positioning demanded premium design quality.
System longevity: The design system had to work beyond this project, supporting future sites.
Business impact
Migrating to Contentful with a scalable design system ensured consistency across thousands of pages and multiple properties. This directly supported operational efficiency (faster page creation), while protecting the brand’s luxury positioning online. For Wynn, this was tied to revenue from bookings, event promotion, and cross-property marketing.
Process
1. Foundations & Audit
Analyzed existing designs and identified reusable patterns across pages.
Defined design foundations: color, typography, spacing, and accessibility.
2. Component Library
Built a scalable component library in Figma: navigation, booking widgets, content cards, CTAs.
Ensured flexibility for content-heavy pages while maintaining consistency.
3. Migration Support
Collaborated with developers to align Figma components with Contentful’s structure.
Created page templates (homepage, room detail, dining, events) to accelerate content migration.
4. Cross-team Collaboration
Organized workshops with marketing and operations to capture requirements.
Delivered documentation and usage guidelines to reduce ambiguity.
Results
Enabled migration of +2,500 content pages with consistent templates.
Reduced design & development time for new pages by ~40% thanks to reusable components.
First cross-property design system, now supporting 3+ Wynn brands under the same ecosystem.
Faster onboarding for new designers and smoother collaboration with developers.
Positioned Wynn’s digital ecosystem for long-term scalability and multi-property growth.
Learnings
Luxury demands rigor: Every detail, from spacing to typography, contributes to brand perception.
Cross-team communication is key when content, marketing, and tech are equally involved.
Building a system is not just about components; it’s about processes and governance.
